Let some Italian amore cheer up your February! Here’s a special Valentine’s Day wine set to chase away the winter blues. This handsome presentation box, showcasing wines from top Marche organic winery Terre Argillose (formerly PS Winery), contains a fizz (Scapolè Vino Spumante), a rarity (Petì Verdò) and a fascinating blend (Confusion) that’s delicious with chocolate!
Each 3-bottle presentation box contains the following wines:
Scapolè, Vino Spumante di Qualità Brut, 2019: made from 100% Pecorino grapes. This fresh, minerally fizz, with its lively bouquet, is perfect on its own to celebrate anything – or nothing! – or as a partner for finger foods and light dishes.
Petì Verdò, Marche Rosso IGT, 2016: rarely made as a varietal in its native Bordeaux, Petit Verdot ripens well in Italy’s warmer climate. The wine gets five years’ ageing in barrels and bottles before release. It has a deep colour, spicy and balsamic flavours, and great structure, and is best decanted an hour before drinking to remove the sediment and open up the flavour. Drink it with roast or grilled meat and other hearty, warming dishes.
Confusion, Marche Rosso IGT, 2012: on the nose you’ll smell berries, red fruits, spices, pepper, cherry, and an intense balsamic note. Six years’ ageing have given the wine a soft, complex and long-lasting palate, well balanced between alcohol and acidity, with a very powerful structure and a long finish. Again, decant the bottle at least an hour before drinking to remove any sediment and taste the wine at its best. A great match for charcuterie, game, spiced dishes and blue cheese, and excellent as an accompaniment to 90% dark chocolate.
