Vernaccia di San Gimignano Riserva 2016: the grapes for this wine are picked at the perfect balance of sugar and acidity. After a short maceration on the skins, the must is fermented in 700 litre barrels, where it then matures for over 18 months. The nose has notes of citrus, peach and apple, with a touch of vanilla. The flavours are very rich, fresh, balanced and persistent. A good match for fried or grilled fish and seafood, pasta, vegetarian dishes, cured meats and medium-aged cheeses.
Rugiada del Mattino Colli Tortonesi DOC 2016: made from Timorasso, a little-known indigenous grape variety producing fine, full-bodied white wines that age well. Straw-yellow colour, vibrant floral, apple nose and savoury nutty palate. Serve with vegetarian dishes, spaghetti, risotto, seafood, white meat or medium-aged goat’s cheeses.
Dorico Conero Riserva DOCG 2015: Dorico 1988 was the first wine in the Marche to receive the prestigious Italian award ‘Tre Bicchieri’ from Gambero Rosso. In 2014 it was selected as one of the 30 wines that contributed to the history of Italian oenology. Big, complex and long-lasting on the palate, with intense dried fruit character, mineral and earthy notes, accompanied by softness, freshness and mellow tannins. Ideal with red meats and stews, matured cheeses.
Barolo DOCG 2014: this wine is the result of a selection of the best grapes from a vineyard located in Bussia Soprana between Monforte d’Alba and Castiglione Falletto, one of the best areas for Barolo. 2014 was a great vintage and this wine will continue to develop and improve for many years. Intense and clear with scents of pinks and violets, leading to hints of cherry and cooked plum, undergrowth, vanilla and pepper. A dry, full, robust wine that is also velvety and goes well with game, meat, truffles and cheese.
Maronea Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2013: Maronea is the perfect marriage between Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Aromas of stewed black fruit, coffee, and exotic spices with a balsamic note. The palate is rich and intense, dominated by toasted oak, grilled bell peppers and black plum, backed up with coffee, dark chocolate and vanilla. Works well with pasta or rice dishes with meat sauces, stews, braised meat, game and medium seasoned cheeses.
Brunello Di Montalcino DOCG 2013: an award-winning wine that appears on the list of both the Quirinale (Rome’s Presidential palace) and the Vatican. Sangiovese grapes give a garnet colour and the classically elegant palate is laden with notes of tobacco, smoke and mushroom, overlying a mineral/graphite structure. Goes well with meat or sauce-based dishes and strong, mature cheeses such as Parmesan or Pecorino.
