Ciliegiolo Motta Maremma Toscana DOC 2019 Organic


The winemaker says: “Pure Ciliegiolo was the first wine my parents produced when they started making wine here in the Maremma in 1986. It came from the oldest vines they found already planted. Now, after 34 harvests, I can say that Ciliegiolo gives its best with simplicity, when it is fresh, young and fruity but also elegant and balanced”.

Ciliegiolo means “cherry”, referring to the flavour of the grapes.

Vineyard: vines 10-50 years old

Harvest period: early September, by hand

Vinification: cold maceration followed by temperature-controlled traditional fermentation on the skins

Maturation:  in steel and cement tanks

Alcohol content: 13% abv


Appearance: deep ruby with purple reflections

Nose: fragrant notes of cherry, strawberry, raspberry, spices, Mediterrenean bush

Palate: medium-bodied, soft and juisy, elegant, smooth and appealing

Food pairings: fish soups, pasta with meat souce, stewed red meats, medium-aged cheeses.
