Grape varieties: 100% Montepulciano
Vineyard: 3 ha facing south-east, planted in 1997.
Vinification: The grapes are harvested in October and cold macerated 3-5 days, until fermented starts using natural yeasts, then gently pressed after 15-20 days maceration on the skins with daily pumping-over. The malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel.
Ageing: 30 months: 50% in tonneaux and 50% in large (27 hl.) barrels, followed by 12 months in bottle.
Alcohol content: 14.5% abv
Appearance: Deep ruby-red colour.
Nose: Complex on the nose, with aromas of wild cherry, blackberry, plums, violet, tobacco.
Palate: Flavours of wild cherries, blackberry with hints of liquorice and some balsamic note, rich, round and well balanced.
Food pairing: Red meats, strong-flavoured vegetarian dishes, mature cheeses
