Falanghina del Sannio DOP 2019

Falanghina is one of Campania’s oldest grape varieties, but only recently returned to popularity. Its name is thought to come from the phalanxes (falangae in Latin) of poles used to support the vines. It’s now one of Campania’s signature varieties and Mount Taburno is one of the best areas for it.

Soil: Argillaceous with lime-rich marlstone outcrops

Harvest: Late September

Vinification: 7 days fermentation at controlled temperature 

Maturation: In stainless steel tanks

 

ORGANOLEPTIC PROFILE:

Appearance: straw-coloured with pale green lights

Nose: delicate floral and aromatic herbal notes coupled with apple, pear, stone fruits

Palate: smooth, refreshing acidity, herbal and fruity flavours, lingering finish 

Food pairing: light fish, pasta and pastry dishes

Serving temperature: chilled
