Greco is amongst Campania’s finest and most ancient white grapes, dating from the time when the Greeks ruled this part of Italy. It produces opulent bunches of bright yellow grapes. It is not an easy variety to grow or to make wine from: it produces small crops, ripens late and is susceptible to rot, so it fell out of fashion until around thirty years ago. Now its quality is recognized and it is recovering its popularity.
