Maronea Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2013


Maronea is the perfect marriage between Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc varieties. The grapes are sourced from 5 different vineyard blocks to express all the potential of the clay soils of the Sondraie vineyard and the ferrous red soil of the Ferruggini area.

Grape Varieties: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon,15% Cabernet Franc

Exposure: east to west

Soil type: clay-sandy soils with stones, sedimentary clay and sandy ferrous soils.

Fermentation: spontaneous with natural yeast in stainless steel vats for 25 days with 12 days of skin contact after fermentation, malolactic fermentation happens naturally.

Maturation: 18 months in French oak barrels medium to high toasted. A minimum of 6 months bottle ageing is required. This wine is bottled without any previous fining or filtration to preserve all its integrity.

Alcohol content: 14,5% abv


Appearance: intense deep red.

Nose: cooked black fruit, coffee, exotic spice aromas with balsamic notes.

Palate: rich and intense dominated by toasted oak, grilled bell peppers and notes of black plum, enriched with coffee, dark chocolate and vanilla.

Food pairing: pasta and rice dishes with meat sauces, stews and braised meat, game, medium seasoned cheese.

Serving temperature: 16 - 18 °C.
