Nebbiolo is one of Italy’s best-known and best grape varieties; in this part of Piedmont, it is known as Spanna. Although the local wines had a great reputation until the late nineteenth century, they were later overtaken by those from further south in the region. In recent years, though, passionate local producers have raised the standard of the area again and it is enjoying renewed interest from buyers of quality wines.
This wine is part of that rebirth. Vinified to bring out the freshness and fragrance of the grapes, the hedgerow fruit flavours and balanced tannins, it can be drunk young or allowed to evolve with a few years bottle-age.
