Sizzano is one of the best appellations in Piedmont, though less well-known in Britain. Wine has been made in the village of Sizzano since mediaeval times and was much prized for its spicy sour-cherry flavour, elegance and length.
This example is multi award-winning and would be good to drink now or to age for 10 or more years.

Grape Variety: 70% Nebbiolo, 20% Vespolina, 10% Uva Rara
Soil: mineral, sandy-clay soil at the base of Monte Rosa
Fermentation: alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks
Maturation: 24 months in French oak barrels
Alcohol content: 13% abv

ORGANOLEPTIC PROFILE:
Appearance: garnet red
Nose: rich and soft, with red berry fruit, black cherries, balsamic and spicy notes
Palate: intense and velvety, aromatic balsamic flavours, balanced tannins, good length
Food pairings: Dishes with robust meat sauces, game and roast meats, aged cheeses. Drink now or keep for up to 7 years. Best decanted an hour before drinking.
