Fara is one of the most prestigious appellations of Piedmont, though less well-known in Britain. Wine has been made in the villages of Fara and Briona since mediaeval times and was much prized for its spicy sour-cherry flavour, elegance and length.
This example is multi award-winning and would be good to drink now or to age for 10 or more years.

ORGANOLEPTIC PROFILE:
Appearance: garnet red
Nose: notes of liquorice, violet and spices
Palate: velvety tannins, flavours of blood-orange, violet, sour cherry; elegant, long finish. Decant an hour before drinking to let it open up fully. Ages well (10+ years).
Food pairings: A good match for wild boar, venison, artichokes and other strongly-flavoured dishes, sharp cheeses
